Happy New Year, Happy Inauguration, Happy Black History Month!
My man Kevin was the only person who called me out on the fact that I said I was going to write one blog each day from Dec 17th 2008 until Christmas. Thanks Kev!
The new "old" hiatus is over...AGAIN. I had a lot of things going on at once.
I'm officially settled in to my new place, the web is steady, and I can get back to blogging regularly...AGAIN.
Allow me to run down a lot of things that has been going on in the world since Dec. 17.
Christmas rolled around and the only gift I wanted and received was RockBand 2, which I am a beast at, might I add. I love it and I play all the time when I should be blogging.
New Year's landed and just weeks after we celebrated the life of MLK and followed up the very next day with the Inauguration [I'm interested in hearing any inauguration stories you may have]. How surreal was it to for President Obama to officially become our leader. After so much hatred by various media and naysayers, he still gave his speech and showed GEEDUBYA the door. I almost cried.
Around about that same time I began packing and moving to my new spot so my life was a tad bit hectic.
Then I had a birthday, on which I moved to my new place. FUN FUN! I want to thank Mikel and Kevin for their help, I still owe you guys for that.
The following night I watched the Superb Bowl! I, like many football fans were watching two teams that I don't ever root for. I found something to root for once the two teams were decided. It wasn't the classic underdog tail, because that's so cliche. I wanted to see another black man make history as President Obama did a couple weeks prior. I was elated to see another black man win the Super Bowl. Congrats to Mike Tomlin! I like his style.
Mike Phelps a weed head!?!? I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing. The irony about this story is that it wasn't a real story, there was an image of him holding a marijuana bong up to his mouth, there was no smoke but Phelps kept it G and didn't lie about it, he came clean. In the end all he did was lose a Kellogg endorsement that had expired anyway! He still has Rosetta Stone, Visa, and a slew of other endorsements. Phelps'll be aight.
KOBE BRYANT. 61 points. Madison Square Garden. Do I need to say more?
LeBron James. 52 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. Madison Square Garden. I don't know what is more impressive.
NBA takes one of LeBron's rebounds and gives it to Ben Wallace two days after the game. So the triple double at the Garden, was downgraded to a double double. That's f'd up!
Alex Rodriguez a ROID USER!!! Allegedly, A-Rod tested positive in his MVP season of 2003. I knew it! Roids and Baseball are like Marijuana and NBA/NFL (or swimming). Shouts to Will Lugo blogger at http://chickenconadobo.blogspot.com who told me on a trip to Dominican Republic last year that his his fellow Dominican "A-Fraud" was going to break Barry Bonds' record. Well Fraud better hope his career lasts as long as Bonds'. I feel bad for A-Rod though because his test results were supposed to remain confidential but since they can't get Barry Bonds behind bars they had to expand on the Balco investigation and gather every steroid test they could, dating back to 1998 when the so-called "Steroid Era" began.
Last night was the Grammy's (that I did not watch until the "Swagger Like Us," performance). I know it's T.I.'s song but I love M.I.A. for the fact she was performing 9mos pregnant and it seemed more like Lil Wayne's song considering he broke away from the other guys during his performance and his ensemble was not in tune with everybody else. But hey "it's weezy baby."
On the dawn following the gram-show, rumors emerge that Chris Breezy stole on Ri Ri and blackened her eye! I don't believe this one bit. I don't believe anything I hear about anything until it's proven true. The best thing that could have happened to CB's career is dating a baby-icon like Rihanna, so I doubt this is true. There are reports that he actually hit another girl who got into an altercation with Rihanna (this is believable).
Ryan Leslie's album drops tomorrow February 10, 2009. He's my favorite new artist. I'm not going to delve into his background, you can check all that on his wesbsite Ryanleslie.com What I will say is homie's album is hot fire, I bootlegged it. Not ashamed to say it, but I couldn't get it in stores last monday. I WILL be in the store on Tuesday to pick up 2 copies.
